Recreation Associate Summer Associate

General Summary

This position will be responsible for interacting with co-workers and participants of community centers or the general public as well as other departmental activities. At any given time working hours of a part-time Recreation Associate may be divided between the duties of a receptionist recreation specialist or groundskeeper based on the needs of the designated area. May interact with instructors program participants young children community leaders co-workers civic organizations and the public. Enforces the rules and regulations of the designated area for the safety and welfare of the staff and participants. This position will report to Community Center Managers Program Coordinators or other designated person.

Responsibilities

Based on the needs of the designated area may be assigned to work as a recreation specialist to monitor people participating in activities at various community centers.

• Accurately maintains participation attendance numbers and other records as requested.
• Keeps the supervisor informed of any problems arising with participants activities and the assigned facility.

Based on the needs of the designated area may be assigned to work as receptionist to answer incoming calls and assist participants utilizing the various community centers based on the needs of the location.

• Assist with rentals and program information.
• Assist with fax transactions and mailings.

Groundskeeping Responsibilities

Based on the needs of the designated area may be assigned to work as a groundskeeper to assist with beautifying the grounds by mowing lawns raking leaves and brush weeds flower beds and trimming and edging turf areas.

• Uses hand tools mowers blowers line trimmers hedge clippers.
• Plants flowers shrubs grass and trees.
• Applies fertilizers pesticides and soil amendments.

Additional Duties

Assists in keeping the facility equipment and supplies neat orderly and clean.
