The Job

The Special Districts Department, Big Bear Valley is recruiting for a Recreation Coordinator to coordinate park activities, including youth and adult sports, leisure classes, special events, and vendor fairs. This position is responsible for researching, developing, and implementing innovative recreational programs, special events, and activities to encourage public participation. It also involves coordinating and managing youth and adult sports programs and assists with marketing and advertising efforts for the district.

This position is located in the mountain area of Big Bear, located approximately 1 hour/45 miles from downtown San Bernardino.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Work Availability: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting and credit check, prior to appointment.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required depending on assignment. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available).

License: Incumbents must obtain and maintain a Class C Commercial License with Passenger endorsement within 12 months.. A valid California Class "C" driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at the time of hire.

Certification: Incumbents must obtain a CPR/AED certification within 180 days of hire and maintain it throughout their employment.

Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: One (1) year experience in the coordination and implementation of youth and adult sports programming with a park, recreation or closely related employer.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants with additional recreation experience in any of the following areas are highly desirable: leisure classes, special events, vendor fairs, and event advertising.
