THE OPPORTUNITY

The Recreation Coordinator will further strengthen the Babson community by assisting with all programming for the Len Green Recreation and Athletics Complex (LGRAC), delivering exceptional customer service, assisting with oversight for facility staff, monitoring student programming events, and ensuring safety, cleanliness and security of the complex.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Works with the Associate and Assistant Directors to deliver health and

wellness programs encompassing all aspects of wellness to students, faculty,

staff, administration, and community members.

  • Act as a key holder for the complex ensuring proper access to athletic

facilities and securing spaces based on facility scheduling and covering the

front desk as needed.

  • As communicated by the Associate Director, provide general administrative

support for specialty class programs including organization and update of

schedules via hard copy, social media and the facility platform, etc.; other

group wellness class administrative support tasks; participate in events as

needed.

  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, manage the day-to-day

functions of diverse and inclusive student-focused recreational opportunities.

  • Attend on and off campus club sport games and functions as needed.
  • Assist with Intramural Sports activities as needed.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and safety of the Center, including daily upkeep

and general cleaning duties of the wellness floor and various workout areas,

fitness studios in the recreation center and Webster Center, front office area,

restrooms, and outside spaces.

  • Lead facility tours for prospective members as needed/required.
  • Assist Assistant Director with administrative tasks as directed, including

scheduling, member stewardship, and member engagement.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

YOUR TEAM WILL INCLUDE

  • Assist with oversight of student facility staff, intramurals operations and club sports.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant equivalent experience and

education.

  • At least 6 months to a year of experience.
  • Enthusiasm for campus recreation and successful growth of programming.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong exercise programming skills and solid knowledge of physiology.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,

Access, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work with culturally ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse

students, staff, faculty, and other constituencies.

  • Effective and clear communication skills, particularly with staff team

members and in daily interaction with members and participants.

  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A;

takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives,

and solutions to gain sought-after results.

  • Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve,

acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in

changing conditions.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

  • Must be able to work under all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work early mornings, evenings and weekend.

Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

  • Personal training and/or group exercise certifications preferred.

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $30.00. This position includes paid sick leave where required by law.
