Program Summary:
Inclusion services serve people who are disabled that may request an accommodation to participate in activities across Portland Parks locations. This can include hidden (ADHD, autism, anxiety/depression, etc.) or visible (uses wheelchair, walkers, crutches, etc.) disabilities.
Programs have different schedules for assignment:

Training Pay:
Inclusion Assistant training pay is $19.61 for all positions.

Inclusion Assistant: Inclusion Services (18+)
As part of Inclusion Services, the Inclusion Assistant for Inclusion Services will directly support one or two individuals to provide assistance to participants of all ages with physical, developmental and/or emotional disabilities as they integrate into general recreation programs. Duties include adapting activities, maintaining a safe environment, and promoting a participant's success in programs. Inclusion assistants must have clear communication with families/caregivers, Community Center staff and Inclusion services coordinator. Recreation programs include various locations across Portland. Candidates may need to be able to travel and work at various locations throughout Portland Parks and Recreation.
Pay Range (new employees start at the entry hourly rate):
Inclusion Assistant base pay is $19.61-$22.88 (entry is $19.61)
Inclusion Services premium pay is $21.61-$25.88 (entry is $21.61 or $22.61 based on experience)
Inclusion Assistant: ASL Communications (18+)
The Inclusion Assistant for ASL Communications provide integrated ASL interpretation support for participation in activities and engaging in social interaction with other participants, staff, and the environment. ASL Inclusion Assistants communicate effectively to interpret accurately from spoken English to ASL and from ASL to spoken English and describe sounds and reactions experienced during the activity. The primary duties of the position are performed out in the field at camps, classes and outings at PP&R facilities, public spaces, and nature settings.
Pay Range (new employees start at the entry hourly rate):
Inclusion Assistant base pay is $19.61-$22.88 (entry is $19.61)
ASL Communications premium pay is $26.61-$29.88 (entry is $26.61)

Job Type: Casual, Part-time. This job posting is for several positions, which are classified by the City of Portland as Parks Activities Specialists.
Schedule: This job has flexible hours and might include working during the day, evenings, weekends, or holidays. The number of hours you work each week can change based on program needs, and there is no guarantee of work hours each week.

Retirement
Membership in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)/Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan (OPSRP)
The City currently pays the employees share of the retirement contribution.
Employees who are OPSRP members are vested after five years of contributions or when they reach age 65 (age 60 for police and fire.)
Sick Leave
Casual employees accrue sick leave as outlined in the City of Portland protected sick time law.
Family Medical Leave
In accordance with federal and state law, and the City policy for family medical leave, the City grants family and medical leave to eligible employees for certain family and medical related reasons.
