JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
This is the third level in a broad recreation series. Incumbents are responsible for overseeing activities of average difficulty at an assigned recreation center, community center, recreation site, or program. Generally, incumbents perform assigned tasks independently and are responsible for a recreation site or program during their assigned shift. Under general supervision, employees monitor and implement recreation activities and are required to exercise initiative and independent judgment in planning, organizing, and conducting activities. Work schedules vary and typically require working during the evenings, weekends, and holidays.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This classification is distinguished from the Recreation Leader I and II classifications by the incumbents leading other part-time staff during recreation events and programs, training, and overseeing recreation activities. This classification will act as the manager on duty of an assigned recreation facility/site and requires strong leadership and a comprehensive understanding of recreational programming. Depending on the assignment, a Recreation Leader III reports to a full-time staff member.
