Position Summary
The City of La Mesa has several openings for energetic and enthusiastic Recreation Leaders
Employee may be assigned to work in one of the following areas:
Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
To provide on-site supervision for programs and facility or park rentals; to lead community walks varying in length from1-5 miles; to set up and tear down equipment for recreational activities; to maintain records and reports; to assist at special events or leading other recreational programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. College-level coursework in recreation, physical education or a closely related field is highly desirable.
Experience:
At least one year of responsible experience working in a recreation program or closely related.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a Standard First Aid Certificate.
Possession of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (Infant, Child & Adult).
A valid CA driver license or equivalent is desirable.
Examination Process

Candidates whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the City will be invited to participate in the examination process for this position. The examination process may consist of any of the following components: written exam, practical skills assessment, and/or appraisal interview. Eligible candidates will be notified when testing dates have been established.Submission of an application does not guarantee participation in the testing process.
