The Recreation Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of recreation facilities, equipment, and outdoor amenities throughout a luxury resort property. This position supports the safe operation, appearance, and guest experience of a wide range of recreational assets, including zipline courses, boating facilities, docks, gardens and greenhouse operations, trail systems, bridges, stairways, handrails, firepit areas, and other outdoor recreation amenities. The technician works closely with the Recreation Team and may participate in the maintenance and support of any recreation-related activity or facility as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on recreation facilities and equipment.
- Maintain and support the safe operation of up to five zipline courses, including platforms, stairs, railings, signage, and surrounding infrastructure.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair boats, boat docks, launch areas, and associated recreational watercraft equipment.
- Support greenhouse and garden operations through maintenance of structures, irrigation systems, pathways, fencing, and related equipment.
- Maintain approximately 20 miles of trails, including trail surfaces, bridges, stairs, handrails, drainage systems, and signage.
- Construct, repair, and maintain outdoor structures, fencing, decking, seating areas, and recreational facilities.
- Maintain large outdoor firepit areas and related guest-use amenities, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and safety.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, small equipment, utility vehicles, and maintenance machinery safely and effectively.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and address safety concerns throughout recreation areas.
- Assist with seasonal projects, special events, and facility improvements.
- Help identify and mitigate potential hazards to ensure a safe environment for guests and team members.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with Recreation, Grounds, Facilities, and Operations teams to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of resort recreational operations.
Qualifications
- General maintenance, construction, landscaping, facilities maintenance, or related experience preferred.
- Ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or grounds maintenance practices preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to guest service, safety, and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and navigate trail systems.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, platforms, and elevated recreation structures.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

- Valid driver's license required with an acceptable driving record.
- Flexible schedule required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities as needed.
- Must be able to participate in and support maintenance activities across all recreation facilities and amenities throughout the resort.
