Job Description

Parks, Recreation, and Tourism is seeking a motivated, outgoing individual who enjoys working with a diverse community and providing excellent customer service. The Requisition Specialist I will primarily support programs at community centers and park facilities, including recreational, athletic, therapeutic, senior, instructional, interpretive, and day camp programs. This role oversees programming for all age groups, supervises seasonal and part-time staff, and supports facility operations, rentals, and special events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to citizens, program participants, volunteers, and staff, in person, by phone, and electronically. Conduct facility tours and respond to inquiries about programs and services.
  • Supervise children, adults, and staff in structured programs and daily facility operations. Assist with recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Plan, organize, and implement recreational activities, field trips, and special events. Ensure all programs follow City policies, safety regulations, and program standards.
  • Assist with daily facility operations, including opening/closing, equipment setup and takedown, inspections, and light custodial duties.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies, assist with purchasing, and oversee distribution.
  • Prepare reports and documentation, including incident/accident reports, statistical data, and program evaluations.
  • Support marketing and outreach for programs through brochures, flyers, and other communications.
  • Process monetary transactions for registrations, rentals, and events, and reconcile daily collections.
  • Use Microsoft Office and ActiveNet Recreation Software to manage registrations, memberships, facility reservations, and reporting.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for programs, special events, and facility rentals.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, staff, and school officials to plan and coordinate programs and events.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Requires an associate's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in physical education or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliancewith the City Driving Standards. Requires CPR and First Aid certification within the first year of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in training, recruiting, scheduling and managing staff in a youth recreational and/or child care setting.

Knowledge of certification, licensing, permit and compliance requirements, and policies related to child care programs and recreational activities.

Some previous customer service experience.

Will be required to work Parks, Recreation and Tourism special events. May be assigned to work any community center or park facility location at any time.
