    Direct Support Professional – Recreation
    Part-Time

    The Arc of Chester County is a busy non-profit organization with strong ties to our community.     POSITION SUMMARY:  

    The Direct Support Professional - Recreation is responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at recreational activities in the community and/or at the agency building. Work requires flexibility as hours/time schedule can vary.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
    2. Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
    3. Provide instruction/support to assist program participants in the acquisition and retention of skills in the recreation program to promote socialization and independence.
    4. Assist participants to access community resources.
    5. Provide transportation, when needed, to facilitate services in the community.
    6. Support participants with communication, dietary, and safety needs during recreation community outings and during the agency recreation events.
    7. Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner, including but not limited to, incident reports, time and attendance records, and mileage expenses.
    8. Notify supervisor immediately of incidents, and other urgent matters.
    9. Accepts reassignment of recreation schedule when needed.
    10. Conduct fire drills with participants at the building on a quarterly basis.
    11. Check Arc email and office mailbox regularly and respond when appropriate.
    12. Comply with all agency policies, plans, procedures, program requirements, funder regulations, and laws.
    13. Participate in Arc sponsored events.
    14. Other duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    1. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
    2. Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on agency policies and procedures.
    3. Creativity and energy!
