You'll experience the excitement of preparing athletes for Louisville Swim Association (LSA) Division 3 competition during the summer season, while also guiding skill-building clinics and exhibition meets in the fall and spring.This position is perfect for someone passionate about coaching, mentorship, and positive youth experiences. You will play a vital role in creating a supportive team culture grounded in sportsmanship, integrity, and encouragement-finding fulfillment in every practice, meet, and swimmer milestone as you contribute to the mission of the JCC.Key ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Athlete DevelopmentPlan and lead age-appropriate swim practices for athletes ages 4-18Teach and refine all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishesAdapt instruction to meet the needs of beginner, intermediate, and advanced swimmersPromote water safety alongside skill progressionProvide constructive feedback to support individual improvementTeam & Program ManagementDevelop seasonal practice plans for summer, fall, and spring sessionsAssist in organizing and running clinics and exhibition meetsMaintain attendance, group organization, and swimmer evaluationsEnsure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participantsCompetition & Meet ResponsibilitiesPrepare swimmers for LSA Division 3 competition during the summer seasonAttend and actively coach at swim meetsCommunicate meet expectations and results to swimmers and familiesCommunication & EngagementMaintain clear, consistent communication with parents, swimmers, and leadershipSupport team culture through encouragement, accountability, and sportsmanshipCollaborate with aquatics staff and leadership to support program goalsSafety & ComplianceEnforce all pool safety rules and emergency proceduresEnsure proper supervision ratios and risk management during all activitiesQualifications & RequirementsRequired: Prior swim team experience (competitive swimming background)Previous coaching or instructional experience with youth preferredAbility to work with a wide age and skill range (ages 4-18)Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsEnergetic, patient, and positive coaching approachKnowledge of competitive swimming rules and techniquesAvailability for summer season meets and practices, plus fall and spring sessionsPreferred QualificationsExperience coaching within a recreational or developmental swim programFamiliarity with Louisville Swim Association (LSA) or similar league structuresWork EnvironmentOutdoor and indoor pool environmentsEvening availability required, especially during meetsSeasonal peaks during summer competition months
