    Description

    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm | Job Location Type: In Person

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide individual and group therapeutic recreational services to patients as referred to address functional deficits.  
    • Screen patients, provides functional assessments, develops goals and modalities for patient treatment plans, and provides direct services for individuals and groups of patients.  
    • Communicate with patients based on an understanding of the developmental needs of children, adolescents, adults, and/or geriatric population.  
    • Document and reports patient progress to treatment team.  
    • Participate in program evaluation.  
    • As needed, assist in training, orienting, and evaluating the performance of recreational therapy interns and volunteers.

     Requirements:

    • Work requires Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field from an accredited program.
    • Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) at time of appointment and throughout time in position. Maintains professional knowledge and skills through attendance at professional meetings, workshops, courses, and in-service sessions.
    • Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, behavioral health treatment modalities, anatomy/physiology, human growth and development, trauma-informed care principles, recovery-oriented care, and crisis management techniques.
    • Work requires interpersonal and communication skills to relate effectively to psychiatric patients with a wide variety of problem behaviors, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds, demonstrate understanding of the RT role in the multidisciplinary team, and teach patients, interns, and volunteers. Strong group facilitation skills. 
    • Work requires analytical ability to combine own observations of patients with those of others to determine functional abilities and deficits and their physical, neurological, developmental, or psychosocial origins and establish appropriate patient treatment plans.
    • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
