A.I.S. Inc. AIS is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal State Municipal and other government agencies along the US coastline.
AIS is seeking a Survey Coordinator to support a five-month field study running from May 11 through September 27, 2026.
Primary Function The Survey Coordinators primary role is to provide day-to-day coordination and field support for up to four Survey Technicians, helping ensure schedules are maintained, survey coverage is complete, and project requirements are met.
The Survey Coordinator will also conduct surveys as needed, including being regularly scheduled for fieldwork and serving as back-up when technicians are unavailable sometimes on short notice. This position reports to a Project Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Project Manager with field communications, troubleshooting, quality control of survey materials, and overall support to meet client and project needs.
Develop and manage survey technician schedules to meet sampling and survey requirements.
Participate in project kick-off meetings and assist with onboarding survey technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and sampling protocols.
Regularly check in with survey technicians to monitor progress, resolve issues, and uphold project standards.
Concerns and Issues Must immediately be reported to the Project Manager.
Serve as the primary contact for survey technicians, site managers, and clients, addressing concerns and ensuring smooth operations.
Communication with the client will filter through the Project Manager.
Perform QAQC on data sheets or electronic images of the data sheets before submission to the client, ensuring accuracy, correcting errors, and ensuring adherence to protocols.
Distribute and collect necessary forms and supplies for survey technicians.
Travel throughout the project area on scheduled survey as needed to support survey technicians and perform QAQC.
Track and approve survey technician expenses based on Federal GSA rates.
Approve technician timecards.
Prepare and submit project progress and status reports.
Regularly conduct scheduled surveys and provide back-up coverage, including stepping in on short notice when survey technicians are unavailable to ensure all survey loops are completed.
Compensation This is a full-time position. Overtime must be approved by the Project Manager.

Travel Regular travel throughout the Kenai Peninsula from Nikiski to Homer.
Miles accrued on a personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the specified Government per diem rate.
