The Nurse Manager II – Labor & Delivery (L&D) is responsible for leading clinical operations, staff management, and patient care delivery within a high-volume L&D unit. This role requires strong leadership in maternal-child health, with a focus on quality, compliance, and operational excellence in a 24/7 hospital environment. The manager will collaborate with physicians, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Lead and manage L&D unit operations and staff • Translate strategic goals into operational execution • Ensure staffing, scheduling, and resource optimization • Oversee 24/7 care delivery environment
• Ensure high-quality maternal and neonatal care delivery • Monitor clinical outcomes and patient safety standards • Support implementation of best practice care models • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations • Lead quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics • Support audits, reporting, and regulatory readiness
• Manage departmental budgets and cost control • Oversee staffing, recruitment, and performance management • Develop operational plans and performance benchmarks
• Partner with physicians and healthcare leaders • Lead cross-functional initiatives and process improvements • Support emergency preparedness and operational planning
• Minimum 5+ years experience managing L&D unit (Hospital setting) • Experience in high-volume L&D (400+ deliveries/month) • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN Required) • Active RN License – California • BLS & NRP Certifications • Strong leadership and operational management skills
• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN Preferred) • Experience managing Mom/Baby units • Experience in large hospital systems • Strong background in quality improvement and compliance
