The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, an internationally recognized policy research organization, invites applications for the position of Recruitment and Communications Coordinator. The Recruitment and Communications Coordinator will primarily be responsible for graduate recruitment and publicizing the Institute's research activities and its innovative Master's in Economic Theory and Policy degree programs.

About the Levy Economics Institute

Housed at the picturesque Blithewood estate, the Levy Institute conducts research and offers viable policy options to an international audience through research papers, conferences, and workshops. Among many policy issues, its research includes: fiscal, monetary, and employment policy; economic security and the future of work; the structure and regulation of financial institutions, markets, and instruments to reduce economic instability; the distribution of income, wealth, and well-being; and gender economics. The Levy Institute brings four decades of policy expertise to its Master's degrees issued through Bard College: a two-year Master of Science and one-year Master of Arts.

About Bard

Bard College's main campus is in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., with 1,900 undergraduate students; the College also includes multiple graduate programs. The 1,000-acre campus sits along the Hudson River and offers the Fisher Performing Arts Center, and Hessel Museum of Art, and is the home of the Bard Prison Initiative, the largest college-degree-granting prison education program in the U.S. The Bard Network also includes several Bard High School Early Colleges across the country as well as international campuses and partnerships. Bard College is a private institution working in the public interest. Bard faculty and staff lead their students by example, building upon the existing network of boundary-breaking programs focused on rethinking who can and should be included in a liberal arts education.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Director of Graduate Programs on admissions strategy and outreach, including maintaining the Graduate Program web presence, arranging for applicant webinars, mailings, and recruiting schedules of the graduate program
  • The ideal candidate is motivated and charismatic, with great communication skills and the ability to cultivate applications and plan well in advance of key recruiting milestones and deadlines
  • The Coordinator is the primary contact for all incoming students and must be responsive to student requests and questions
  • Acting as the primary contact for graduate-program-related campus offices (student accounts, financial aid, international student services, etc.)
  • Traveling to regional colleges and graduate school fairs, especially during the fall recruiting season
  • Actively publicizing the Institute's research and events through social media and an e-newsletter, including preparing synopses of new publications

Familiarity with (or a willingness to learn) the Adobe suite (including Adobe Express for graphics) is a plus.
  • An ability to energetically articulate the Levy Graduate Program. The successful candidate must be able to speak in front of groups of potential graduate students and communicate effectively and collaboratively with various staff and faculty associated with the graduate programs, including relevant Bard College staff.
  • Previous higher education experience is valued, as is experience with admission and application software (e.g., Slate), but a willingness to learn and manage such programs is essential.
