This position serves as an as-needed professional mental health counselor within the Office of Student Services &

Student Engagement (OSSSE), providing direct counseling services to students.

  • Provides individual and group counseling services to students addressing mental health, wellness, and adjustment concerns under the supervision of a licensed Counselor.
  • Conducts initial assessments, psychosocial intakes, and screening activities to identify student needs and determine appropriate interventions or referrals.
  • Assists students in developing coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and action-based goals to support academic and personal success.
  • Documents clinical services in accordance with institutional policy, ethical standards, and licensure requirements.
  • Participates in case management activities, including coordination with campus partners and external resources, under supervisory guidance.
  • Refers students to appropriate campus and community resources when needs exceed the scope of this position.
  • Assists with crisis response and student support activities as assigned, in accordance with training and supervision levels.
  • Participates in emergency or after-hours response protocols as appropriate to the role and licensure status.
  • Remain current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory compliance and training requirements for this position.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
  • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value''s leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.

  • Master''s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.
  • 3 years of related experience Licenses/Certificates: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC - A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW,) Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) working toward LCSW, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-A), or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)
