Reefer Technician / HVAC Service Technician

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00+ per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Position Type: Temp-to-Hire

Bear Staffing is seeking a Reefer Technician / HVAC Service Technician for one of the nation's leading providers of modular buildings and portable storage solutions.

This position is ideal for candidates with experience working on refrigerated trailers (reefers), transport refrigeration units, HVAC systems, diesel-powered cooling equipment, or related mechanical systems. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration and climate control equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair transport refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems and cooling units.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related issues.
  • Inspect, test, and repair components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, belts, hoses, motors, and electrical systems.
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, leak detection, and system charging when required.
  • Complete service reports, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate repair findings and recommendations to supervisors and customers.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with transport refrigeration, reefer units, HVAC systems, diesel equipment, or mechanical repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • EPA Certification
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in indoor and outdoor environments.
