    Position Title: Reference Librarian

    Department: Library Services

    Reports To: Assistant Director of Library Services

    Work Hours: 16 hours

    Status: Part-time; 9-Month Staff

    FSLA Classification: Non-Exempt

    SUMMARY

    The Part-time Reference Librarian supports the mission of the college by assisting in reference services and information literacy programs. .

    SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*

    • Participate in daily reference desk rotation; provide Information Literacy/user instruction to individuals and groups; build Research Guides; serve as a Personal Librarian to incoming students.
    • Participate in the rotating of teaching the interdisciplinary research course.
    • Participate in collection development, including developing policies and procedures.
    • Provide training and workshops to faculty/staff/students on the use of library technologies.
    • Investigate library technologies that will improve resources and develop instructional resources within the library, when appropriate.
    • Provide support to library staff for college-licensed software and its application in teaching and learning.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support a team approach in providing library service.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master's degree in Library or Information Science
    • Knowledge of traditional and electronic resources including bibliographic/full-text databases and Internet for research
    • Teaching ability and an understanding of and commitment to the library's instructional role.
    • Knowledge of collection development policies and areas of interest for a Liberal Arts College.
    • Strong computer skills including experience with PC troubleshooting, maintenance and software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Familiarity with learning management systems, especially as they relate to library services.
    • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of maintaining web pages, social media, tutorials, and LibGuides.
    • A commitment to provide service in a team-oriented setting.

    SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master's Degree required
    • Higher Education experience Preferred
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent written communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to complete projects with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work independently and on a team
