This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Library Services department. The pool will remain open until June 2027 unless positions are no longer needed.
Supports all aspects of library service; provides direct service to students, faculty, staff, and the public; assists in materials selection, cataloging, and weeding; instructs groups in the use of the library, especially its electronic resources; cooperates and communicates with faculty in developing assignments, providing instruction, and maintaining areas of subject expertise.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Academic Success and Library Services.

Screening Criteria
Education: Master's Degree in Library Science required.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Experience: Two years of experience in an academic library, in bibliographic instruction and teaching the use of the Internet.
Knowledge of: Print and electronic library and research tools appropriate to a community college library; instructional methods using a variety of technologies; computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management; curriculum development; the community colleges mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs.
Ability to: Creatively retrieve information using print and electronic resources; work with the public effectively and diplomatically; teach library and research skills to individuals and groups; learn new technologies quickly and train others in their use; work well with an innovative and flexible staff; develop and complete projects independently; communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse faculty, staff, and student community; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth.
Licenses: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for less than half of the daily work period (about 40%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and lighting is adequate.

Pay rate based on the current Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule located on the RCC Human Resources Website unless noted otherwise in the job description.
Adjunct faculty are hired on a term-by-term basis and are not eligible for benefits.
