Job Title: Referral Representative I (Lab Support)
Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA- 15220
Duration: 3+ months of Contract with possible extension/ Temp to Hire
3rd Shift time: Mon-Fri (9:00 pm - 5:30 am) EST
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Referral Representative I to support referral testing operations in a clinical laboratory. This role involves handling specimens, coordinating with referral labs, assisting customers, resolving testing issues, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, sort, and prepare lab specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.
- Check specimens for accuracy and quality (correct labeling, enough sample, proper temperature, etc.).
- Package and ship samples following safety and shipping guidelines (IATA regulations).
- Handle customer calls and inquiries related to test results, delays, or service issues.
- Communicate with clients to resolve routine testing or reporting concerns.
- Investigate and help resolve complex referral testing issues.
- Research referral labs and test availability when needed.
- Notify clients about tests not performed (TNPs) or lab incidents within 24 hours.
- Maintain accurate documentation and escalate concerns to supervisors when necessary.
- Follow all safety, HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience required.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 lbs; heavier lifting requires assistance.
Work Environment:
- Work involves handling biological samples and potentially hazardous materials in a laboratory setting.
