POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Refinery Superintendent your roles and responsibilities will include:
The client is seeking a Refinery Superintendent to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the refinery operations at its Newark, California facility. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations while driving production performance, food safety, quality, continuous improvement, and financial results. The Refinery Superintendent will lead production teams, establish operational priorities, manage budgets, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily refinery production operations to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with employee safety, food safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain corporate Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that improve plant efficiency, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Oversee manufacturing systems, quality control, maintenance best practices, production reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage plant operating and capital budgets to meet financial performance targets.
  • Monitor production metrics and hold supervisors and team members accountable for operational results and expense control.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate employees, including hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements and product quality specifications are consistently achieved.
  • Drive Lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Refinery Superintendent who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Refinery Superintendent would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant manufacturing or production operations experience.
  • Experience leading manufacturing or production operations in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience managing production teams, budgets, and continuous improvement projects.

Compensation: Based on Experience. One of the best in the industry
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant manufacturing or production operations experience.
