    Description

    Minimum Qualifications

    Eighth grade. Must possess EPA Section 608 certification (Type I, Type II, and Type III; or Universal), issued through an EPA-recognized program in refrigerant transition and recovery service practices, in accordance with EPA 40 CFR Part 82. Must possess a Miami-Dade County Certificate of Competency as a Master Mechanic in Refrigeration (Unlimited) and/or Air-Conditioning (Unlimited); OR a State of Florida Class A Certified Air-Conditioning Contractor (CACC) license; OR a State of Florida Certified Mechanical Contractor (CMC) license. Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including, but not limited to, fingerprint checks, employment verification, and other such procedures as may be mandated by federal requirements. The security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.

    Recruitment Notes

    This is skilled supervisory work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of varied types of industrial refrigeration and A/C equipment. Duties include but not limited to: plans, coordinates and supervises work related to maintenance, repair, replacement, diagnostic and evaluation, installation, start up, testing, and ensuring proper operation of A/C and refrigeration systems and components. Systems may include Direct Expansion, HVAC systems, chilled water & Glycol Systems, air handling units, air distributions systems, pumping and piping systems, and related electromechanical and pneumatic controls. Supervision and assistance are given to subordinate mechanics in diagnosing and planning repair and installation work. Completed jobs are primarily supervised through the satisfactory performance of the equipment and satisfaction of the clientele served.
