Job Title: Refrigeration MechanicLocation: San Jose, CA (On-site)
Duration: Contract (0 4 Months, possible extension)
Schedule: Night Shift (6: 00 PM 6: 30 AM) Pay Rate: $33/Hour on w2 Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Mechanic to support maintenance and operations within a manufacturing facility. The role involves working on industrial refrigeration (ammonia) systems, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. Key Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on manufacturing equipment and facility systems Operate, monitor, and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration systems Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and refrigeration system issues Repair or replace components such as compressors, motors, valves, pumps, belts, and system controls Conduct system rounds and document readings, conditions, and abnormalities Support safe startup, shutdown, and adjustments of refrigeration systems Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation Follow all safety protocols including PSM, GMP, and LOTO procedures Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance activities Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and system performance Required Qualifications: Experience in industrial maintenance, refrigeration, or ammonia systems within a manufacturing environment Strong troubleshooting and repair skills across mechanical systems Knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems (compressors, condensers, evaporators, piping) Familiarity with PSM (Process Safety Management) and GMP standards Ability to read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals Strong problem-solving and communication skills Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications: Ammonia Operator Certification or relevant experience in PSM-covered systems Experience in food manufacturing environments Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance or refrigeration Additional Details: On-site role in a manufacturing plant environment Night shift schedule with potential overtime PPE will be provided
