Region HR Manager

Boise Cascade Wood Products has an exciting opening for a Region HR Manager. This role is onsite in Medford, OR with 20% annual travel.

Scope:

Provides management, direction, development, and administration of human resource activities, including application of policies and procedures for a region within the Wood Products division. Areas of responsibility include employment, training, EEO, labor and employee relations, salary and benefits administration, performance management, recruiting, productivity programs, communication activities, and workers compensation. May also have responsibility for loss prevention, security activities and safety. Number of employees at the region level ranges from 700 to 1160. Number of facilities supported ranges from 4 to 8 production facilities within a significant geographic area. Department size ranges from 4 to 9 FTEs. Supervises professional and administrative human resource staff. Position is under general direction, proceeds independently to accomplish established goals and objectives, and guide department activities. Position reports directly to the Region Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Works with region management to identify and address organizational gaps and prioritize and implement initiatives to close those gaps.
• Leads efforts to attract, develop, compensate and retain excellent, committed employees.
• Manages region labor relations function, including negotiations, arbitration, grievance resolution, and contract interpretation.
• Leads efforts to support our desire to remain union-free.
• Ensures compliance with HR-related government laws and regulations, including OSHA, EEO and Affirmative Action, and state and federal employment laws.
• Responsible for the development and maintenance of region communication strategy and program, including active external community contact program.
• Directs effective safety and workers compensation programs.

Qualifications:

College degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function; prefer an advanced degree. Minimum ten (10) years broad HR Generalist experience, including solid working knowledge of safety management and OSHA regulations, selection, development, compensation, employee relations, and organizational planning. Proven ability to lead organizational changes and experience in managing multiple human resource functions. Prior labor relations experience in unionized operations preferred. Prefer field experience in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to represent Boise Cascade to appropriate audiences, i.e. government and legal agencies, and all levels of region, division, and corporate. Must be customer-oriented with high level of drive and motivation, and ability to respond to customer needs with a sense of immediacy.

Compensation:

$120,000 - $180,000 USD annually
