Position Summary

Regional Admissions Counselor | Remote Position | Greater Seattle, WA • Vancouver, WA • Tri Cities, WA

Whitworth University is seeking an Admissions Counselor to join a collaborative team of enrollment professionals dedicated to helping students discover their calling through a transformational Christian liberal arts education.

This position is based remotely in one of three recruitment markets: the Greater Seattle area, the Vancouver/Portland metropolitan area, or the Tri Cities region of Washington. As a key member of the Admissions team, you will build meaningful relationships with prospective students, families, counselors, churches, and community partners while representing Whitworth throughout the recruitment process.

Core Responsibilities

Recruit and Engage Future Pirates | 50%

  • Represent Whitworth at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, church events, community organizations, and other recruitment activities within an assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute a territory recruitment strategy that supports enrollment goals.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, counselors, alumni, and community partners.
  • Serve as Whitworths primary representative for prospective students throughout the recruitment process.
  • Communicate Whitworths academic programs, student life experience, financial aid opportunities, and mission with confidence and authenticity.
  • Maintain accurate territory records and recruitment activity within the universitys CRM system.

Guide Students Through the Admissions Process | 30%

  • Conduct individualized outreach through in person meetings, phone calls, email, text messaging, virtual appointments, and social media.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and timely follow up to prospective students and families.
  • Review undergraduate applications and make admission recommendations and decisions consistent with university policies.
  • Connect students with campus resources including Financial Aid, Student Life, Athletics, Academic Programs, and Student Support Services.

Support Enrollment Events and Team Initiatives | 20%

  • Participate in campus visit programs, open houses, and recruitment events throughout the year.
  • Assist with planning and execution of admissions communications and recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across campus to advance enrollment goals.
  • Stay informed on enrollment trends, higher education best practices, and university initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive, mission centered team culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
  • Experience building relationships, providing customer service, recruiting, sales, marketing, education, admissions, student services, or a related field.
  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
  • A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and achieve goals in a remote work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to lift and transport recruitment materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

  • Experience in college admissions, higher education, or student facing roles.
  • Experience using CRM systems such as Slate, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with high school students and families.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish

Salary and Location Information

The starting hourly rate for this position is $21.41 to $25.00 per hour. Placement within the range will be based on factors including the successful candidates relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and work location within the assigned recruitment territory. The successful candidate will be required to reside and be based in Washington State.

Travel Expectations

This position requires travel within the assigned recruitment territory.

  • Approximately 8 to 10 weeks of travel during the fall recruitment season.
  • Approximately 2 to 4 weeks of travel during the spring recruitment season.
  • Evening and weekend commitments throughout the year, including recruitment events and campus programs.

Schedule

Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week
