Overview:

The Regional Collections Specialist partners with Operations Managers, Regional Leadership, and the Revenue Operations Center (ROC) to optimize collections and accounts receivable performance. This role provides strategic coaching and training on aging account management and revenue cycle best practices to ensure accurate billing, timely insurance reimbursement, and efficient resolution of outstanding balances. The specialist proactively identifies performance improvement opportunities and supports operational excellence, financial stewardship, and sustainable practice performance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve Epic work queues to improve claim processing efficiency and accelerate reimbursement.
  • Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and take appropriate action, including claim follow-up with payers and confirmation of patient financial responsibility.
  • Maintain accurate and timely account documentation to ensure alignment and communication between offices and the ROC.
  • Deliver structured coaching and training to Operations Managers (OMs) and Healthcare Coordinators (HCs) via 1:1 sessions and group forums.
  • Conduct monthly regional reviews with OMs and focus offices to assess collection drivers, workflows, and claim follow-up practices.
  • Present insights and updates during OM/DM meetings and Regional MOFRs, as requested.
  • Provide monthly trend analysis and actionable recommendations to Regional Leadership to drive performance improvement and profitability.
  • Utilize reporting tools and operational data to identify gaps and prioritize high-impact improvement opportunities
  • Participate in ROC-led and cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment on priorities and initiatives.
  • Partner with Revenue Analysts to evaluate trends, address operational gaps, and maximize collectible revenue across assigned regions.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and standards, as well as state, federal and other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 3+ years of related experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of related experience in the dental field.
  • Prior experience as a claims auditor within a group practice environment.
  • EPIC experience.

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage competing priorities with limited direction.
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven, and results-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols, including proper PPE usage, in environments involving potential hazards.
  • Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policy.
  • The physical demands of this role regularly involve the ability to use hands for fine manipulation (finger, handle, feel), reach with hands and arms, communicate verbally (talk, hear), and detect odors (smell). Frequent activities include prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting, as well as lifting and/or moving general items a minimum of 20 pounds. Essential vision abilities for this position include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • A team member may also be assisting patients with transfers, such as moving them to and from chairs. This task may involve pushing, pulling, repositioning, and occasional lifting of patients, often necessitating the application of proper body mechanics, the use of assistive devices, or coordinated team lifts. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching may also be required.
  • This position requires working in an environment around moving mechanical parts, with the potential for occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Adherence to safety protocols, including the consistent use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is required.
