    Description

    Summary:

    A well-established company in Honolulu is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and finance operations. This leadership role is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, audit coordination, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on accounting professional with strong leadership skills and the ability to support organizational growth and operational excellence.

    Location: Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

    Reports To: General Manager – Corporate Planning & Administration

    Working Hours: Mon through Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional work outside these days

    Remote: Hybrid (need to go into office about 1-2 times a week)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee daily accounting and finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, auditing, and financial reporting
    • Manage month-end, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
    • Monitor cash flow and manage company funds effectively
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies
    • Develop and improve accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls
    • Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit inquiries
    • Prepare reports and financial analysis for executive leadership and headquarters
    • Supervise and mentor accounting team members, supporting professional development
    • Manage company insurance policies and related documentation
    • Support cross-functional departments and special projects as needed

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • Active CPA license
    • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience
    • At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience
    • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
    • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

    Preferred

    • Experience in the travel, tourism, or tour operation industry
    • Bilingual in English and Japanese
    • Experience working with multinational or regional headquarters

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Salary range: $80,000 - 110,000
