As the Regional Environmental Compliance & ESG Programs Manager, you will be the go-to partner for ensuring our manufacturing sites meet environmental obligations while advancing measurable sustainability outcomes. You will lead regional initiatives that protect air, water, and land, maintain rigorous records for audits, uphold ITAR and export control requirements, and coordinate with procurement and customers on compliance documentation.

A day in the role

  • Walk the floor with operations to validate environmental practices and discuss improvements in processes and material use.
  • Review air, water, waste, and chemical handling data, update regional metrics, and flag trends for action.
  • Prepare and submit customer-required disclosures and certifications in partnership with procurement, quality, and sales.
  • Update ITAR training records, support export control documentation, and confirm audit readiness.
  • Track open corrective actions from inspections and internal audits and close out items with site teams.

Core responsibilities

Environmental compliance and sustainability

  • Build and execute regional environmental and sustainability programs aligned to site needs.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA and state agencies) covering air emissions, waste management, wastewater/discharge, and chemical management.
  • Compile, analyze, and report regional environmental performance indicators; help establish targets and continuous improvement plans.
  • Drive initiatives to cut environmental impact, including waste minimization, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
  • Support implementation and upkeep of environmental management systems (such as ISO 14001 or comparable frameworks).
  • Assist with internal and external sustainability reporting tied to regional operations; contribute to communications on progress.

Regulatory and compliance management

  • Maintain compliance with all relevant manufacturing regulations, including environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Sustain ITAR compliance programs: documentation control, training coordination, and internal audit support.
  • Assist with export controls and customer-specific compliance obligations.
  • Track regulatory changes and brief regional stakeholders on impacts and required actions.
  • Maintain complete, accurate records to demonstrate compliance during internal and external audits.

Procurement and customer compliance

  • Own completion of supplier questionnaires, environmental disclosures, and customer certifications.
  • Coordinate with procurement, quality, and sales to ensure accurate, timely submission of all compliance forms.
  • Keep documentation audit-ready and systematically organized.
  • Support supplier compliance assessments focused on environmental and sustainability criteria.
  • Help evaluate suppliers against environmental and regulatory standards.

Auditing and continuous improvement

  • Participate in internal and external audits tied to environmental and broader compliance programs.
  • Support inspections; track and verify corrective actions to closure.
  • Identify gaps in compliance and environmental performance and co-create corrective action plans.
  • Author and maintain policies, procedures, and work instructions related to environmental and compliance practices.
  • Champion a culture of compliance, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct across the region.

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years in compliance, environmental, sustainability, regulatory affairs, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ITAR, export controls, or government contracting is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental compliance, reporting, or sustainability initiatives preferred.
  • Exposure to environmental regulations (e.g., EPA and state-level requirements) is highly desirable.

Skills and competencies

  • Solid command of regulatory compliance processes and documentation management.
  • Working knowledge of waste, air, water, and chemical management in manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks, ESG concepts, or environmental reporting tools is a plus.
