Regional Medical Director (MD/DO Physicians Only) - Utah

We are looking for a Regional Medical Director to join our team in Clinical Operations, reporting directly to the Chief Psychiatry Officer. This role provides strategic medical leadership across our designated regional clinics, embedding our Transformative Care philosophy into every aspect of practice, ensuring safety and compliance, and aligning clinical excellence with operational priorities. Must be a board-certified physician (MD or DO)

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Our Team:

  • Collaborate with Clinic Medical Directors and Stella Medical Leadership to ensure continuing education, clinical competency, care standards, and performance metrics are elevated.
  • Build a unified and productive partnership with Clinic Medical Directors and the Director of Operations to ensure collaboration and alignment.
  • Lead and participate in Medical Director meetings to provide direct clinical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to Clinic Medical Directors, physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied medical staff.
  • Support recruitment, credentialing, and onboarding processes to maintain a high-performing, compliant clinical workforce.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to develop cohesive action plans to ensure performance expectations, patient outcomes, and quality standards are achieved.
• Our Patients:
• • Embed Transformative Care (Philosophy of Care) principles into all aspects of clinical practice.
  • Oversee adherence to treatment protocols and ensure that treatment plans align with the organization’s clinical standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and key performance indicators to drive clinical improvements, including providing necessary coaching and supervision to clinic medical directors or providers directly.
  • Monitor and analyze key clinical performance indicators to drive improvements in patient satisfaction and retention.
• Our Business & Operations:
• • Partner with the Director of Operations to align clinical operations with business objectives for sustainability and efficiency.
  • Assist in building referral networks and community partnerships to enhance patient access and care continuity.
  • Provide regional oversight for incident reporting, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards governing medical and allied health services.
  • Where Applicable/Required: Serve as the holder of a Medical Professional Corporation pursuant to the corporate practice of medicine, and contract with the Management Services Organization (MSO) regarding administrative service delivery as outlined in the Management Services Agreement.
• Near-Term Strategic Objectives (Q4 OKRs):
• • Support and implement a compliant interventional “incident-to” care model across all designated locations with psychiatrist coverage.
  • Drive interventional adoption and achieve budgeted Breakthrough Starts across the market.
  • Increase adoption of CPT code 90833 and achieve the established performance threshold of at least 60% across every eligible clinic.
  • Standardize interventional treatment protocols across clinics and ensure consistent implementation, clinical quality, and adherence.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Education & Licensure:
• • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in good standing within the region of responsibility (with willingness to obtain active unrestricted licenses in other states as needed).
• Experience:
• • 7+ years of clinical experience, including at least 3 years in a medical leadership or director-level role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site clinical operations and lead interdisciplinary teams.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance, medical ethics, and patient safety standards.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience and proficiency with standard business applications.

• • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving, prioritization, and analytical skills to drive clinical quality and business outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multi-site responsibilities, and adapt to proprietary systems and growth initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive corporate and medical communications.
  • Ability to reliably travel across regional clinic sites as required.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• • Board certification in Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, or a related specialty.
  • Experience with interventional mental health treatments such as Dual Sympathetic Reset (DSR), Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB), IV ketamine therapy, Spravato, or TMS.
  • Prior experience as a Regional or Corporate Medical Director within a multi-site or integrated healthcare system.
  • Advanced degree or certification in Healthcare Administration or Leadership (e.g., MBA, MHA, MMM).
