Job Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to support pharmacy training, education, and operational excellence across up to twenty-five (25) retail pharmacy locations. The associate is responsible for leading the onboarding and training of newly hired pharmacists by providing comprehensive instruction on pharmacy systems, procedures, policies, and departmental initiatives. Through effective training and mentorship, the associate helps ensure that pharmacists are equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient patient care.
This position works closely with Director of Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy District Managers, and Pharmacy Regional Managers to provide feedback and recommendations that help shape operational plans, improve associate engagement, and support the achievement of departmental goals. The associate serves as a key partner in identifying training opportunities and implementing strategies that enhance operational effectiveness across the pharmacy organization.
The associate supports the Pharmacy Operations team with the implementation of new systems, programs, and initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating rollout activities, developing educational resources, and providing training to pharmacy associates to ensure successful adoption of new processes and technologies. The role requires strong collaboration with pharmacy leadership and operational teams to maintain consistency and effectiveness throughout the implementation process.
The associate must perform all duties in a safe, professional, and ethical manner while adhering to corporate policies, state and federal laws, and pharmacy practice standards. A commitment to patient safety, operational excellence, and continuous professional development is essential for success in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Responsible for providing effective in person training on all pharmacy department operations for newly hired pharmacists within a training area consisting of up to twenty-five (25) retail pharmacy locations.
Assists with the completion of new hire training materials and additional new hire training as directed by supervision.
Responsible for ongoing training of all pharmacy associates on new systems, new initiatives, or enhancements to current systems or processes.
Assists in identifying training gaps and operational opportunities and collaborates with leadership to develop corrective action plans and educational resources to address identified needs.
Monitors training outcomes and associate progress and provides coaching, follow-up support, and development recommendations to ensure successful knowledge retention and application of pharmacy procedures.
Maintains a working knowledge of all pharmacy systems and processes including, but not limited to, pharmacy dispensing, inventory management, clinical initiatives, and pharmacy/store operations systems.
Works directly with Pharmacy Operations leaders to provide input and feedback to influence strategies to improve overall pharmacy operations, compliance, and associate engagement.
Serves as a liaison between pharmacy associates and Pharmacy Operations leadership by communicating field feedback, identifying operational challenges, and recommending practical solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Supports compliance initiatives by reinforcing company policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements through ongoing education and coaching of pharmacy associates.
Participates in pilot programs, system testing, and process validation activities and provides detailed feedback to support the successful implementation of new technologies and operational initiatives.
Works with supervisors and asset protection to coordinate and administer the successful completion of CPR certification training.
Assists with the development and ongoing upkeep of the department's training and procedure documentation.
Keep accurate travel and training records and submit weekly recaps and follow ups with supervisor and pharmacy operations leaders.
Carries out special projects and assignments as directed by leadership.
Performs all responsibilities in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, company policies, and professional standards.
The associate may travel extensively within the assigned training area to support training, operational initiatives, compliance activities, and business needs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or General Education degree (GED) and three (3) years of pharmacy experience or training related field or equivalent.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
