Essential Functions
  • Lead and promote all site safety initiatives while fostering and influencing a proactive safety culture. 
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. 
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver employee safety training programs. 
  • Ensure employee safety certifications, required training, and regulatory compliance remain current. 
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and implement risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, property damage, and safety concerns using root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive action plans. 
  • Maintain safety records, training documentation, and other required regulatory documentation. 
  • Monitor, track, and communicate key safety performance indicators, including TRIR, DART, near misses, field observations, corrective actions, and training completion. 
  • Partner with plant leadership to implement continuous safety improvement initiatives. 
  • Conduct contractor safety orientations and monitor contractor compliance while on site. 
  • Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and business continuity efforts. 
  • Assist with OSHA inspections, customer audits, insurance inspections, and regulatory compliance reviews. 
  • Conduct periodic safety audits and observations of railroad field operations to verify compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable FRA and OSHA regulations. 
  • Support regional safety initiatives by assisting with audits, investigations, and employee training at additional Holland facilities as needed. 
  • Collaborate with Operations, Human Resources, and Safety Leadership to ensure consistent implementation of company safety programs across both fixed plant and railroad operations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, logistics, rail, or fixed plant operations. 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards. 
  • Experience conducting workplace incident investigations and root cause analysis. 
  • Experience developing and presenting employee safety training. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. 
  • Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland LP. 
Preferred
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Technology, or a related field. 
  • CSP, ASP, or other safety designation is preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs. 
  • Experience conducting OSHA compliance audits. 
  • Experience working in industrial manufacturing, fabrication, welding, heavy equipment, or railroad maintenance environments. 

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk for prolonged periods on uneven surfaces, including manufacturing facilities, railroad track areas, and industrial job sites. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and access heavy equipment as needed to conduct inspections and investigations. 
  • Ability to perform repetitive office tasks, including computer work and data entry. 
  • Vision sufficient to safely operate a motor vehicle and conduct safety inspections and audits. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to support nearby facilities, railroad field audits, employee training, investigations, and other business needs. 

Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to indoor manufacturing and fixed plant environments. 
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions while conducting inspections, audits, investigations, and training. 
  • Exposure to welding operations, grinding activities, heavy equipment, moving machinery, dust, fumes, smoke, and industrial particulates. 
  • Periodic exposure to railroad field environments while conducting safety observations, customer audits, investigations, and supporting railroad contractor crews.
