Position Overview
The Regional Sales Manager leads and develops a high-performing sales team across an assigned region. This role is responsible for driving revenue, managing DSD (Direct Store Delivery) accounts, and achieving corporate sales objectives through strategic planning, performance management, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor strategic sales plans to achieve annual corporate goals.
- Build, develop, and retain a high-performance sales team, ensuring succession planning is in place.
- Oversee the development and retention of DSD accounts within the assigned region.
- Lead the regional DSD sales team in achieving performance goals, strengthening customer relationships, resolving issues, growing account sales, and implementing process improvements.
- Direct sales forecasting and analyze sales data by location to set goals, develop policies, and drive performance.
- Manage channel development and coordinate sales distribution by establishing territories, quotas, and routing strategies.
- Monitor and control regional expenditures to align with budgetary goals; manage full P&L responsibilities for the area.
- Engage with key accounts-particularly complex, high-value, or at-risk customers-to support relationship management, negotiations, and closing of deals.
- Define and enforce sales performance metrics to ensure account profitability and long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to deliver field-level support aligned with company objectives.
- Travel regularly within the assigned region to customer sites to perform job duties using company vehicle or other mode of transportation.
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in related field for four-year college or university preferred
- 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a DSD sales environment required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Driver's license required
- Acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and handheld point-of-sale computer systems, preferred
- Internal Only: Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources
