Job Description

Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. CO+I is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. We are looking for a passionate individual to help build the network that powers the world's largest online services.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.

We are seeking an experienced Regional Scheduling Lead to lead the AMER planning team within EPC Project Controls. This role is accountable for the integrity of the Plan of Record and Integrated Master Schedules across the Americas datacenter delivery portfolio, and for the planners - employees and vendor partners - who develop and maintain them. The AMER portfolio is among the largest in the company: multi-disciplinary, capital-intensive, multi-year build, expansion and lease programs across many markets and regulatory environments. Acting as the regional authority on planning strategy and schedule development, the successful candidate will champion industry-leading scheduling practices, ensuring schedules across the region are developed using sound Critical Path Methodology, bottom-up planning principles, schedule quality standards, and risk-informed decision-making.This is a people-leadership role first: you will size, develop and hold the bar for a regional team, while acting as the single voice of schedule truth to regional and global leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Capability

  • Lead, develop and grow the AMER planning team and the vendor planners working alongside it. Size the team to the shape of the portfolio, allocate planners to programs on strength and development need, and hold one consistent quality bar across every market. Own performance management, coaching and succession, and own the commercial relationship with planning vendors in partnership with Procurement - scope, service levels, capacity ramp and delivered quality.

  • Planning & Schedule Management

  • Own portfolio-level planning for the Americas so that project, program and portfolio schedules reconcile to one another and to regional capacity commitments. Run the regional baseline and schedule change-control process, ensure critical path and float are analyzed rather than reported, and ensure every Plan of Record carries a defensible logic, resource and risk basis across the full EPC lifecycle including long-lead equipment, utility and permitting paths.

  • Schedule & Planning Expertise

  • Serve as the regional sme in Primavera P6 EPPM and Integrated Master Schedule best practice. Drive bottom-up planning aligned to the Basis of Estimate, validate durations and benchmarks, and strengthen schedule integration and portfolio performance analysis. Partner with Central Project Controls on Estimating, Cost and Risk so that regional schedules and estimates tell the same story.

  • Data, Reporting & Analytics

  • Work with the Reporting and Analytics team to develop enhanced reporting solutions for the region, translate complex schedule and performance data into clear leadership insight, and support KPI frameworks for schedule health, performance tracking and governance. Ensure regional schedules are structured well enough that reporting and capacity models can be built on them without manual reconciliation.

  • Change Management & Governance

  • Deploy and maintain global planning standards across the region rather than a regional dialect of them - work breakdown structures, coding, milestone definitions, progress measurement, quality gates and reporting cadence. Lead Schedule Risk Analysis on the programs carrying the most capacity, run gate assurance reviews, and lead change management for planning initiatives across employees and vendor partners.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Build durable relationships across Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management, Land Development, Energy, Permitting, Commissioning, Capacity Planning and Finance so that the regional schedule reflects the constraints those teams live with. Chair the regional planning forums, provide the integrated planning input behind funding submissions and approval gates, and present schedule position, risk and recovery options to Director- and VP-level stakeholders
