General Description:
This position is a rare opportunity to join an exciting team. The regional North Central Educational Service District 171 (NCESD 171) is seeking a dynamic team player interested in making an impact in the lives of district students and staff as the Regional Science Elementary Specialist for 29 School Districts within our NCESD region. The Regional Science Elementary Specialist coordinates and delivers engaging, hands-on science and safety learning experiences for elementary students across multiple counties. This role includes planning and facilitating large-scale “River of Power” events and providing in-school electrical safety presentations for students in grades 2 and 4.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education
- Science and/or math teaching experience;
- Knowledge of and/or experience with the Electrical Safety Program through Grant, Douglas, Chelan, and Okanogan PUDs.
Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities:
- Specific demonstrated organizational ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and Agency partners
- Experience in presenting, facilitating, and report writing
- Ability to travel within the NCESD 171 region; flexibility in work hours/days
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid first aid card with CPR
Job Responsibilities:
Program Delivery & Instruction
- Deliver electrical safety presentations to elementary students (primarily grades 2 and 4) within Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan Counties
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on learning experiences aligned to science and safety standards
- Provide teachers with pre-lesson and follow-up instructional materials to extend student learning
Event Coordination (River of Power)
- Plan, organize, and host regional “River of Power” science events in multiple counties
- Coordinate logistics, materials, and schedules for multi-day River of Power events
- Lead and support on-site River of Power activities, ensuring smooth operation of all learning stations
Training & Collaboration
- Assist with recruitment, training, and support of event station leaders and volunteers
- Collaborate with PUD partners and local school districts
- Communicate effectively with schools regarding scheduling, expectations, and program needs
Scheduling & Regional Outreach
- Assist with coordinating and scheduling school visits across multiple counties, accounting for travel and seasonal considerations
- Maintain relationships with participating schools and manage annual participation cycles
- Participate in science fairs, promotional events, in-service, and other science center-related events
Program Preparation & Materials Management
- Prepare instructional materials and supplies for presentations and events
- Facilitate the ordering of supplies to maintain a fully stocked inventory of electrical safety and River of Power supplies
- Transport, organize, and maintain program equipment and resources
- Support post-event cleanup, inventory, and storage processes
- Ability to lift and move materials and supplies that may weigh 40 to 50 lbs
- Other duties as assigned to support the success of the agency

- Support refinement of program delivery, materials, and logistics to improve efficiency and impact
- Identify opportunities to enhance participant experience and operational processes
- Provide key reporting and updates to NCESD/PUD partners on an ongoing basis to include an annual written report, as well as personal contacts/reports as required by individual PUD partners

- A new employee is subject to a 180-day probationary period and must be evaluated prior to its end. If work is found to be unsatisfactory, the employee is subject to termination.

Physical Demands
- Frequent travel within the NCESD 171 region. Some overnight travel may be required.
- Extended or flexible hours as necessary
- Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 50 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position
