Regional Survey Manager/Senior Project Manager

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Survey Leader to lead, manage, support, and expand Surveying and related Mapping Services within Dewberry’s Mid-Atlantic region (lead/manage Virginia, support Maryland, and DC). Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail oriented individual interested in leading our regional Land Surveying team. Applicant must be able to work in a fast paced environment, manage key, complex projects, daily coordination with leadership in Virginia, prepare proposals and be successful in business development and leading the surveying staff. Applicant will lead our regional team through the adaptation of the latest equipment and surveying technology, consistency of survey procedures, QA/QC, and lead the hiring of new staff and internal growth of the team and staff development. This individual will report to our Gainesville Business Unit Manager.

• Supervises a staff of survey managers and department leaders. 
• Coordinates with Survey Department Managers, office staff & field staff with daily workload, schedules and needs in order to support high utilization across the region while providing cross-training opportunities to staff. 
• Responsible for the direction of a region with multiple survey offices/departments.
• Provides leadership to survey managers and staff across multiple offices. 
• Uses creativity, foresight, and mature judgement in anticipating and solving unprecedented, complex problems. 
• Sets regional priorities and reconciles directions from competing interests.
• Manages and directs key complex projects - providing leadership and management within the survey departments and on large projects. 
• Follows policy & procedures to insure all deliverables are done accurately and efficiently.  
• Prepares budgets / proposals, marketing / business development and monthly invoicing.
• Works both independently and in group environments.

• Must have High School Diploma, AAS degree in Land Surveying preferred.
• Active Land Surveying license required for Virginia or ability to obtain; Multi-State licensure is a plus.
• Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of survey experience and project management.
• Active in Virginia Association of Surveyors and strong survey network. 
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to work and interact with clients.
• Must have a diverse survey experience including: Boundary surveys, topographic surveys, route surveys, construction stakeout and transportation surveys.
• Must be proficient with GPS/GNS systems and use of RTK/VRS and post processing of survey data (Static - Network Least Squares Reduction).
• Konwledge of/experience with laser scanning is a plus.
• Must have the ability to perform deed research, process field data collector files; resolve boundaries and prepare CAD files, metes and bounds descriptions, and final plats.
• Must have the ability to perform all aspects of an ALTA Survey.
• Must be dependable, conscientious, self-motivated and driven.
• Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week as required. 
• Must be willing and able to do short term travel.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
• Must pass a mandatory drug test.

The projected range for this position is $159,000-$236,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
