About the role:
The Regional Truck Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of company products throughout a regional network while maintaining full accountability for on-time performance, equipment condition, regulatory compliance, and customer service. Drivers are expected to operate with the utmost of professionalism, ownership, and integrity by completing thorough inspections, managing documentation accurately, communicating operational issues proactively, and upholding the company's safety and performance standards at all times. This role does require overnight travel in a sleeper truck.
Working Hours: Sunday to Thursday, but requires flexibility.
Key responsibilities include:
Safety compliance- Following all safety regulations related to truck operation, including all regulations concerning local, state, and federal regulations and company policy.
Driving- Proficiency in maneuvering large vehicles, including backing into tight loading docks and safely navigating in varied weather conditions.
Ensure accuracy of all Bill of Ladings by ensuring that products are of and for Barry Callebaut and the accuracy of same and pick-up and delivery as instructed.
Conduct Pre/Post trip inspections- are mandatory for commercial motor vehicle drivers, requiring them to check key components like service brakes, parking brakes, steering mechanism, lights, tires, horns, windshield wipers, rear-vision mirrors, and coupling devices before operating the vehicle, ensuring the vehicle is in safe working order
Navigation and Route Planning- Familiarizing oneself with routes, navigating through different areas, and adjusting to changing traffic conditions with Strong ability to use GPS technology, read maps, and plan efficient routes to manage time effectively and bypass traffic.
Documentation-Maintaining accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and other necessary paperwork
Customer service-Interacting with customers at delivery points, ensuring timely deliveries and the utmost professionalism
Regulatory Compliance / FMCSA HOS- Driver must have In-depth knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) hours-of-service rules, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and federal/provincial laws; understand and practice all hours-of-service rules and regulations for North America.
Warehouse Support - Assist with warehouse operations as needed based on business demands, including loading, unloading, inventory movement, and other related tasks.
Travel Requirements - Position may require overnight travel, including routes that involve 1-2 consecutive nights away from home, depending on business needs and delivery schedules.
About you:
Valid Class A CDL, current Medical Examiners Certificate, and acceptable driving record.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Minimum 3 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
Must have operated a CMV with trailer within the last 6 months.
Minimum 1 year of refrigerated (reefer) trailer experience.
Ability to pass a pre-employment driving test, DOT drug screen, and background review.
Clean driving record with no preventable accidents or major moving violations within the last 24 months.
Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently, adapt to changing conditions, and solve problems effectively while maintaining compliance with all safety regulations and company policies..
