Make a Difference Beyond the Bedside
At Deaconess Illinois, we're looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about advancing wound care through exceptional patient care, clinical expertise, education, and collaboration.
As the Regional Wound Care Coordinator, you'll serve as the primary inpatient wound care specialist at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center while supporting our Crossroads and Union County facilities. In this role, you'll work alongside physicians, nursing teams, and interdisciplinary caregivers to improve patient outcomes, strengthen clinical practice, and lead evidence-based wound care initiatives across the region.

What You'll Do
As our wound care expert, you will:
- Provide comprehensive wound assessments, treatment recommendations, and ongoing management for hospitalized patients.
- Care for patients with pressure injuries, complex wounds, ostomies, fistulas, drains, skin integrity concerns, and continence-related conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing teams, rehabilitation services, and care management to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Support bedside caregivers with complex wound management and clinical decision-making.
- Guide discharge planning to ensure continuity of wound care.
You'll also help strengthen wound care across our regional hospitals by:
- Serving as a clinical resource for Deaconess Illinois Crossroads and Union County.
- Providing consultation, education, and support to nursing teams.
- Promoting consistent, evidence-based wound care practices throughout the organization.
In addition, you'll play an important role in developing our caregivers by:
- Leading wound care education and competency programs.
- Creating educational resources and evidence-based practice tools.
- Mentoring staff and supporting professional development.
You'll also contribute to organizational excellence by:
- Leading pressure injury prevention initiatives.
- Monitoring quality outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Participating in chart reviews, root cause analyses, and quality improvement projects.
- Supporting product evaluations and standardization efforts to enhance patient care.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience
- At least three years of wound care experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited WOCN education program
- WOCN/CWOCN certification or willingness to obtain within two years
- Experience in clinical education, quality improvement, or nursing leadership
Hourly Wage Range: $39.40-$59.10
