If you are looking to make a difference in the lives and families that we serve, we are looking for a full-time (36 hours/per week and benefit eligible) Registered Nurse to join our skilled workforce in our skilled nursing facility setting.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
 
The RN is responsible for assessing the clinical condition and determining the nursing care requirements of the residents in an assigned unit.  The RN assigns, supervises, and directs the delivery of nursing care by the individuals according to the physician's orders and established policies and standards of care.  The RN is directly responsible to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, or Administration and keeps them informed of all pertinent information concerning the resident's condition.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Gives the quality of nursing care, which meets the standards for nursing practice of Plantation Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
  1. Adheres to the policies and procedures of Plantation Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
  1. Knows the purpose, expected results, and the safety factors involved in the nursing care they administer.
  1. Utilizes her knowledge and skills in giving safe nursing care.
  1. Assumes responsibility for fulfilling the job's activities.
  1. Protects the confidentiality of information concerning residents or nursing home affairs, except to authorized personnel.
  1. Self-direction in learning and/or improving the abilities needed in the job.
  1. Participates in studies related to nursing practice.
  1. Participates in the in-service education program of the nursing home.  
  1. Evaluate resident care and make recommendations for the improvement of the care.
  1. Maintains a professional level of conduct.
  1. Accepts direction, supervision, and evaluation of performance.
  1. Economical use of time, effort, and material.
  1. Other related duties as assigned
 
JOB FUNCTIONS:
 
A. Plan Nursing Care
  
·         Identifies the nursing needs of residents.
  • Receives report from a nurse from the previous tour of duty and makes walking rounds.
  • Ascertains physician's orders.
  • Observe the resident's physical needs.
  • Determines observable spiritual, emotional, and social factors that might influence a plan of therapy.
  • Utilizes knowledge in the identification of nursing needs.
  • Knowledgeable of all residents' conditions at all times.
  • Responsible for the total resident environment.
 
B.  Makes a plan of care in light of the nursing needs and the program of   therapy as prescribed by the physician.             
  • Identifies nursing needs that require the services of an RN.
  • Utilizes resources such as physicians, directors, and written materials in planning care.
  • Identifies areas of nursing care within the range of abilities and scope of the non-professional worker.
  • Assign the non-professional workers to tasks that they can perform and supervise them.
  • Utilizes ancillary services, such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Recreational Therapy, and Social Services, in providing optimal services to the resident.
  • Participates in weekly Resident Care Plan meetings as indicated.
 
C. Gives nursing care:
  1. Carries out hygienic, comfortable, and safe measures. Carries out activities delegated by the physician that concern medications, treatments, and diagnostic measures. Assists the physician with treatments and procedures. Assists in the physical rehabilitation of the resident. Teaches the resident and/or family the necessary health information or simple nursing procedures required for home care. Observe and record on nursing records the signs and symptoms associated with the diagnosis, the resident's condition, and their response to therapy. Reports significant observations and information to the nurse in charge. Records nursing care data accurately on designated records. Assists in meeting spiritual and emotional needs. Administers or supervises the administration and recording of medication. Administers, regulates, and initiates intravenous fluids and medications as needed. Transcribes and follows through with doctor's orders. Demonstrates nursing care procedures and care of equipment to team members when necessary. It helps maintain the cleanliness of the unit. Makes pertinent notations on Resident Condition Report. Assists in the orientation of new associates. Completes narcotic counts and reports incorrect counts to the Head Nurse. Checks for the completion of team members' assignments and other delegated tasks. Checks new patients on admission and makes frequent rounds, assisting, checking, and teaching members.
  1. Makes rounds with doctors. Reads current literature in nursing to update nursing care. Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly medication cart. Maintains accurate admission and discharge reports. Keeps current the Resident Condition Report.
 
D.Evaluate nursing care
1. identifying areas where self-improvement is needed.
2 Observes the resident's response to the plan of care.
3. Seeks improvement in nursing care plans through discussions with coworkers.
4. Adjusts the nursing care plan in light of new developments or new information.
5. Evaluates the performance of the workers under their direction. Identifies the learning needs of the workers and refers this to the Director of Nursing.
6.  Assists the Charge Nurse with the overall management of the Nursing Unit, including monthly orders, renewals, monthly summaries, and other data as required by the Nursing Administration.
 
ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPERVISORY STANDARDS:
 
1. Functions as a Charge Nurse in charge of a nursing unit as assigned and assigns duties to aides and orderlies.
2. Contribute to the implementation of the philosophy and purpose of nursing.
Issues warning notices to employees under supervision without prior approval for employee violations of nursing home personnel policies or other improper conduct.
 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education:       Registered Nurse
  • Licensure:        Licensed in the State of Florida
  • Attending educational programs designed to foster professional growth is essential.
  • Knowledge of the principles of physical, biological, and social sciences plus their application to resident care.
  • Manipulative skills are required in performing a variety of therapeutic procedures.
  • Technical skills are also required, as well as recognition of cardinal symptoms, reactions to treatments, and changes in a patient's condition.
  • Teaching skills are essential for instructing patients and nursing associates.
  • Must have physical stamina and emotional maturity.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Must maintain a neat appearance, exhibited by proper uniform, nursing cap, and name pin.  A cap remains optional.
  • Must be able to accept and support change.
  • You must be alert.
  • Must be interested in learning.
  • Must be courteous.
  • Must be able to accept and offer constructive criticism maturely.
  • Skin test and/or chest x-ray and physical examination required.
  • Must be able to move and lift residents safely and effectively.
  • Must have adequate hearing and vision.
  • Must be able to supervise non-professional workers when they are assigned for direction.
  • Constant contact with residents, visitors, and coworkers.
 
Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of the use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a healthcare-related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.

  • Emergencies arise that require an immediate and effective response from the nurse.
