Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
School-Based | Multiple States (NM, TX, WA)
Position Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to provide one-on-one behavioral support to students with developmental needs in a school-based setting.

In this role, you will implement individualized behavior intervention plans designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and support students in achieving their academic, social, and behavioral goals. This is a direct-service, paraprofessional position focused on implementation rather than assessment or program design.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 behavioral support to students in a school setting

  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by a BCBA

  • Teach social, communication, and academic skills

  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviors in real time

  • Collect accurate and timely data to track progress toward IEP goals

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and BCBAs

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Minimum Qualifications (All States)
Age & Education

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Required Certification & Training

  • Completion of a 40-hour RBT training program that meets the 2026 BACB Curriculum Outline

  • Successful completion of the RBT Initial Competency Assessment (conducted by a BCBA)

  • Active RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

  • Must pass the BACB RBT Examination (3rd Edition Test Content Outline)

Recertification Requirements (Effective 2026)

  • Two-year renewal cycle

  • Completion of 12 Professional Development Units (PDUs) per renewal cycle
State-Specific Requirements
New Mexico (NM)

  • Must obtain a Level 1 Educational Assistant License through the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED)

  • Requires separate application

  • Background check for “Teacher Licensure”

  • Superintendent verification

Texas (TX)

  • No additional state license required

  • Must maintain active national RBT certification

  • Must pass district-level fingerprinting and background checks through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

Washington (WA)

  • Must hold a Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) license through the Washington State Department of Health (DOH)

  • Requires proof of RBT certification

  • Application fee (approximately $95)

  • Practice is not permitted until CBT license is issued
