JFCAC offers a variety of impactful programs for eligible individuals, from rental and utility assistance to a Nutritional Food Supplement program for Women, Infants and Children.
To carry out our mission and expand our impact, we are seeking a dedicated professional to step into a vital role within our Agency - The Registered Dietician/Nutritionist.
This is an in-office position. You will work 2 days in our Hillsboro, MO office and 2 days in our Arnold, MO office. You''re off on Fridays!!!
A Registered Dietician/Nutritionist in a Community Action setting plays a critical role in improving the health and nutrition of pregnant women, new mothers, infants and young children.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Dietician/Nutritionist is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of public health nutrition services and assuring that Women, Infants & Children (WIC) participants receive accurate nutrition assessments and appropriate nutrition education.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Determines health and nutritional risk factors for certification and recertification for WIC program eligibility.
- Consults with physicians, participants, and appropriate WIC officials regarding special formula usage.
Assigns appropriate food and formula packages.
- Prepares high risk care plans and provides follow-up counseling.
- Refers participants to appropriate local resource agencies for additional social, health, and/or nutrition services.
- Provides consultation to medical professionals regarding participants nutritional needs; provides one-on-one counseling with participants regarding health and nutritional needs; reviews and discusses nutrition assessments with participants and their families.
- Develop annual program for nutrition, breastfeeding and activity oriented educational programs, seminars, and workshops for WIC and other community health programs.
- Develops lesson plans for specific nutrition topics.
- Teaches nutrition related classes, seminars, and workshops to groups, or one-on-one, to WIC participants and in other community health programs including promoting breastfeeding.
- Prepares a variety of records and reports regarding nutritional needs of WIC and other community health program participants.
- Documents nutrition education activities and prepares periodic reports for City, State, and Federal WIC and other health program officials.
- WIC outreach as assigned
General Staff Responsibilities:
- Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned
- Demonstrate familiarity with employment policies, performance standards, work plan and objectives of Agency
- Maintain congenial and respectful relations with staff, children, families, and community
- Keep current and accurate records and file reports on time
- Maintain confidentiality in regard to staff and family information
- Maintain objectives and professional standards

- Fulfill role as mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Policy
- Be present at work in order to provide consistency of services

- Demonstrate commitment to mission, values, and policies in the performance of daily duties
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the state of Missouri
- Two years'' experience in Community Nutrition working with Maternal Child Health is recommended, with WIC experience preferred
- WIC experience (preferred)
- Adequate means of transportation
- Desire to work with low-income children and their families
OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Communicate effectively with staff, families, children, and the public using the telephone and in face-to-face, one-to-one, and in group settings
- Comprehend, analyze, and make inferences and references from written material
- Produce written documentation with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar
- Ability to drive a private or Agency vehicle; must possess a valid driver''s license and personal automobile or provide a plan that will allow fulfillment of position requirements
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Base Pay: $20.70 per hour - may increase based on education and relevant experience
- Status: Full-time, 36-hour workweek
- 4-Day workweek with Fridays off
