Job Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

Registered Dietitian will be responsible for providing direct outpatient clinical care. Will predominately treat patients of child-bearing years through the mobile (four + counties) and fixed (Abbeville) BLOOM clinics. Practice will include individual patient care, group education classes, and comprehensive nutrition programs in the community with emphasis on pre-pregnancy, prenatal and postpartum nutrition. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

70% - Essential - Provide Direct Outpatient Clinical Care as Registered Dietitian:

The registered dietitian will work at the top of their license to provide direct care to patients, with emphasis on patients with chronic disease (e.g. type-2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, obesity, CKD). This includes evaluating and assessing the nutrition status of the patient and providing interventions, recommendations and education individually or in groups. The effectiveness of patient plans will be monitored and adjusted as needed. Provides quality care based on evidenced based nutrition practice guidelines. Accurately documents interventions in electronic health record and other platforms.

10% - Essential - Clinical Preceptor for Health Professions Students:

The incumbent, through direct clinical care, will serve as a clinical preceptor for students from various health professions on topics and experiences related to his/her scope of practice. This includes providing training to health professions students, direct supervision of students supporting patients, and assisting with recruitment efforts of undergraduate and graduate students and volunteers.

10% - Essential - Development of Nutrition Programs, Curriculum and Supporting Materials:

Assists the Associate Director, Food Security and Nutrition in developing, implementing and evaluating new nutrition programs and materials.

10% - Essential - Compliance:

Adheres to regulatory and compliance standards, including local, state, and federal regulations related to scope of practice; appropriately documents within the electronic health record for continuity of care and billing purposes; participates in continuing education to maintain licensure and board certification; supports CRH through the development of protocols and procedures related to scope of practice, including annual review; completes all required training.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Education - A masters degree and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian or registration eligible. Or a bachelors degree with professional clinical or public health experience and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian. Must be licensed with the South Carolina Board of Dietetic Registration or eligible for SC license.

Preferred Qualifications

1+ year in community clinical setting, rural health clinic, or mobile health unit.

Experience with patients living with chronic diseases. Some experience with rural and underserved communities.
