The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.



Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Medical Director or designee, the Registered Dietitian (RD) provides specialized nutrition assessment, counseling, treatment planning, and health education services to University of California, Irvine students. The RD serves as an integral member of the Student Health Center multidisciplinary care team and provides evidence-based nutrition care for a broad spectrum of health concerns, including eating disorders, disordered eating, weight management, sports nutrition, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, prediabetes, cardiovascular risk reduction, food allergies and intolerances, and general wellness nutrition.

The Registered Dietitian participates in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of students with eating disorders and collaborates closely with Primary Care, Psychiatry, Counseling Center clinicians, Social Workers, Nursing, and other campus partners to support comprehensive, coordinated care. The RD develops individualized nutrition treatment plans, provides nutrition rehabilitation and counseling, participates in multidisciplinary case review meetings, and contributes to health promotion and wellness initiatives that support student success and well-being.

The position provides both in-person and telehealth services and supports nutrition-related outreach, education, consultation, and prevention programs for the campus community.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience providing nutrition counseling for eating disorders, disordered eating, and/or adolescent and young adult populations.
  • Knowledge of nutrition assessment, medical nutrition therapy, motivational interviewing, behavior change counseling, and evidence-based nutrition practices.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Ability to establish rapport and effectively communicate with a diverse college student population.
  • Experience utilizing electronic medical record systems.
  • Experience providing telehealth services.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Current registration and eligibility to practice as a Registered Dietitian in California.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experienceClinical nutrition experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experienceEating disorders experience.


Preferred:

  • Specialized training or certification in eating disorders.
  • Experience working in a college health, adolescent medicine, behavioral health, or outpatient ambulatory care setting.
  • Experience developing health promotion, wellness, or population health initiatives for young adults.


Special Conditions:

  • This position is renewed on an annual basis, the appointment end date is set to 06/30/2027.
  • This position’s schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, however, weekend or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours.
  • Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring of licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position.
  • The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening.
  • Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $44.10- $52.72 (Hourly).
