Registered Dietitian
Location: Peridot, AZ - Onsite
Shift Times: full-time
Days: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM; Mid/Evening - As needed
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced registered dietitian to join our team at a critical access hospital. The ideal candidate will possess experience in clinical nutrition, preferably with a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential. The responsibilities of this role will encompass a range of duties, including but not limited to:
• Inpatient unit care
• Outpatient clinics
• Food service evaluation and menu development
The inpatient unit caters to a diverse patient population, offering minimal nutrition support, while outpatient clinics focus on medical weight loss and diabetes management, along with other Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) consults as ordered by physicians.
Unit Information
The following provides insight into the unit environment:
• Staff on Unit: Medical Assistants manage patient scheduling and cancellations/no shows.
• Patients per Day: 9-12
• Type of Equipment: Not applicable
Skill Set
Must Haves
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience: A minimum of three years is preferred in clinical nutrition.
Nice to Have
• License: CDCES certification is preferred.

Experience and Education Requirements
The following qualifications are essential:
• Two years of recent experience planning regular and modified diets within a healthcare facility; three years preferred.
• Two years of clinical nutrition experience, with a focus on providing medical nutrition therapy aimed at chronic diseases and nutrition education across the lifespan.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of a Didactic Program in Dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
• Current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Responsibilities
The registered dietitian will:
1. Provide MNT for inpatients and outpatients, which includes performing assessments, creating nutrition care plans, counseling, and education, as well as administering special therapies.
2. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in nutrition, overseeing the medical nutrition therapy of complex and high-risk patients.
3. Deliver in-service education and training programs for nursing staff, medical staff, students, healthcare personnel, and the general public.
4. Modify patient profiles based on nutritional needs, food intolerances, and preferences.
5. Participate as a member of the medical team at interdisciplinary care conferences to develop and/or update patient care plans.
6. Provide MNT for adults and/or family members referred by physicians for outpatient services.
7. Conduct regular quality assurance checks within the food service department.
8. Present nutrition-related information to the community.
9. Provide in-service education for food service personnel.
10. Prepare reports and other documents required for maintaining accreditation with regulatory agencies.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned
