A Brief Overview

The Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs a vital role in assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating various neurological patient conditions. Performs standard electroencephalographic examinations for patients as directed according to established lab protocols and guidelines. Responsibilities include administering Inpatient and Outpatient EEG's, Long Term Video Monitoring hookups, Ambulatory EEG hookups with and without video requiring setting up and disconnecting inside patient homes, Continuous monitoring of LTM patients. All of the fore mentioned are expected to be done in a safe, timely, accurate and efficient manner.

What you will do
- The Neurophysiology Department at Holy Name operates on a 24/7 schedule. All techs are required to take on-call, do their part in covering various shifts including days, evenings, overnights, holidays and weekends
- Utilize the International 10-20 Electrode Placement system to measure, mark, and apply electrodes to the patient’s scalp
- Perform routine EEG’S on geriatric, pediatric and neonatal patients including awake and asleep, portable recordings, isolation recordings, and ECS recordings all done in adherence to the departmental protocols
- Maintain and replace electrodes as needed to assure optimal recordings.
- Completes a thorough patient history on each patient along with a Technical Impression
- Documents completion of study thru hospital computer system and completes departmental log book.
- Long Term Monitoring Studies as well as Ambulatory with Video Studies require patient consent or administrative consent before a hookup can be started. Obtain pertinent history noting any contraindications to activation procedures
- LTM/Ambulatory hookups are done routinely with collodion according to lab protocol, unless specific conditions arise and proper detailed documentation accompanies the change in protocol.
- Prunning and clipping of patient data every 24 hours to ensure the quality of EEG abnormalities are best displayed for doctor interpretation.
- 24/7 Monitoring of all LTM/Ambulatory patients and completely document any changes seen on the EEG recording as well as in the patients chart
- Skin integrity checks are done on all LTM inpatients every two days for the safety of our patients and decrease the amount of skin breakdown
- Must know when critical changes are seen on patient recordings and the nurse (if inpatient) and ordering Neurologist must be notified immediately
- If a patient has a seizure or becomes unresponsive in the Neurophysiology Department a Rapid
- Response/Emergency Response Team must be call immediately thru the hospital operator
- Report equipment malfunction to the Neurophysiology Coordinator.
- Maintains an orderly, safe and clear working environment
- Disinfects and cleans equipment according to the manufacturer’s guidelines outlined in the infection Control policy and Department policy
- Responsible for completing all hospital annual mandatory requirements
- Assists with training of new personnel when applicable
- Perform any related duties as assigned

Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent program required
- Attendance of an Accredited School for Neurodiagnostic Technology preferred

Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year clinical EEG experience : Prior hospital experience is preferred working with both the adult and pediatric population,

Pay Range: $37.50/hour- $42.50/hour
