Elayn Hunt Correctional Institute is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Registered Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties: Performs professional nurse duties that may include administration of blood and blood components, I.V. medications, parenteral nutrition, central line therapy, etc., under the close supervision of a registered nurse of a higher level.

Assists in development of nursing plan of care for patients in assigned units.

Makes regular patient rounds to observe and assess patients physical conditions and behaviors and records observations on patients charts.

Receives and fulfills physicians instructions regarding patient care and transmits orders, as needed, to other departments.

Assists physicians with patient examinations and records patients mental and physical health histories.

Assists in emergency code situations.

Instructs and educates patients in health and hygiene procedures and in self- administration of prescribed medications.

Administers medications and treatments in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Registered Nurse 1 has an SER of $29.84 per hour Registered Nurse 2 has an SER of $31.93 per hour Registered Nurse 3 has an SER of $34.17 per hour

This position also offers premium pay……A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
