Description

$80,000 - $90,000 a year

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to provide safe, compassionate care in an alcohol detox unit at the NIH Clinical Center. This is a 13-week contract assignment with the possibility of a long-term or full-time opportunity based on performance and continued staffing needs.

Full time RN for our alcohol detox unit  (General RN)

  • 13 week contract - potential for full time / long term contract
  • Requires at least 2 years of acute care hospital nursing in Medical Surgical care.   

Schedule is one full time day, 1 full time night  2 (8) hour shifts, (2) 12 hour shifts, include weekends and holidays as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or associate degree in Nursing from an accredited university; successful passage of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
  • Licensure: Valid, active RN license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States.
  • Certification: Current BLS; ACLS if required by the client.
  • Requires at least 2 years of acute care hospital nursing in Medical Surgical care. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and provide direct nursing care within the RN’s authorized scope of practice

  • Monitor patients undergoing alcohol detoxification and promptly identify changes in clinical or behavioral status

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient documentation

  • Follow established clinical protocols, infection-control practices, safety requirements, and patient-care standards

  • Protect patient dignity, privacy, and rights

  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, support personnel, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team

  • Participate in required orientation, annual training, and competency activities

  • Float to another unit when needed, provided the assignment is within the RN’s demonstrated competency and scope of practice

Additional Requirements

Selected candidates must satisfy NIH credentialing, health, immunization, security, fingerprinting, background-investigation, and access requirements before or during onboarding, as applicable. Required licenses, certifications, and health documentation must remain current throughout the assignment.

The successful candidate will be dependable, clinically confident, attentive to patient safety, and capable of working constructively with patients from diverse backgrounds in a structured hospital and biomedical-research environment.

This position is contingent upon successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings, which may include a background check, drug test, physical examination, and respirator fit testing in accordance with contract and facility requirements.
