    Description

    Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.

    At least 1-2 years of experience is highly preferred.

    JOB SUMMARY

    This position will assist in the examination and treatment of patients in the clinic.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Meet with patients in a clinic setting to assist in performing routine tests for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.

    • Identify health status by taking health histories, observing signs and systems, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for the doctor to examine.

    • Report to the physician any changes in the patient's physical and emotional condition.

    • Assist in epidemiological investigations, including names of communicable disease contacts and making referrals for tests and medical care.

    • Draw blood, give injections, administer and read skin tests, administer immunizations and vaccinations, and administer prescribed medications and treatments.

    • Provide education on preventative care and family planning.

    • Participate in the supervision and training of aides and volunteers.

    • Assist with medical supply inventory and orders.

    • Keep current and accurate records.

    • Interact professionally with the patient and the patient's family or representatives.

    • Consider patient cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors.

    • Respond to medical emergencies as needed.

    • Participates as a PCMH Care Team Member and performs the following:

    • Prepares for, attends and participates in team meetings and huddles.
    • Collaborates in developing team priorities and patient goals and care plans.

    • Active in patient education, goal setting, self-management teaching and coaching, and behavior change.

    • Medication reconciliation and education.

    • Utilizes standing orders when indicated.

    • Chronic disease management.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.
