As a Behavioral Health RN within our dedicated 12-bed unit, you will provide compassionate, high-standard care primarily to adult and geriatric psychiatric populations. This role is ideal for a nurse who excels in therapeutic communication and clinical stabilization. You will lead the way in comprehensive patient assessments and medication management, working alongside a supportive team to foster a safe, healing environment. Whether you are leading a group therapy session or managing complex geriatric psych needs, your expertise will be the cornerstone of our patient-centered care model.
Key Duties:
Clinical Assessment: Perform thorough psychiatric and physical assessments to monitor patient progress and identify changes in status.
Medication Management: Safely administer and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for therapeutic effects and potential side effects.
Therapeutic Intervention: Facilitate or assist with group therapy sessions to encourage patient engagement and emotional regulation.
Patient Advocacy: Act as a primary advocate for patients, ensuring their rights are protected and their individualized care plans are followed.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and the interdisciplinary team to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu for all patients.
Crisis Intervention: Utilize de-escalation techniques and clinical judgment to manage behavioral emergencies and ensure the safety of the unit.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of professional nursing experience (Psych/Behavioral Health experience preferred).
Licensure: Active Arizona (AZ) or Compact Nursing License.
Certification: Current BLS (American Heart Association) required.
Skills: Strong foundational knowledge in psychiatric nursing, medication management, and patient assessment.
Geriatric Expertise: Experience or interest in Geriatric Psychiatry, as the unit goal is to focus on patients aged 55 and over.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead therapeutic groups.
Adaptability: Comfort working in a specialized 12-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
