    Description

    Summary: Provides nursing services for office activities to ensure continuity of care; provides clinical support to Attendings, nurse practitioners and secretaries. Provides patient teaching, assistance with in office procedures, monitoring of sick calls, and coordination of medication renewals. Preparing patients for surgeries and calls after procedure.

    Essential Functions

    • Rooms patients obtaining vitals, chief complaints, verifying/updating medications, allergies in ERM system.
    • Staff nursing schedule for suture removals and pre-admission interviews.
    • Follows patient complaints of illness from intake to resolution. Obtains appropriate information from patient by interview or physical assessments as to the nature of the complaint. Provides neurosurgeon or nurse practitioner with complete and concise documentation regarding patient complaint. Informs patient of physician's response.
    • Assists with coordination and scheduling of diagnostic tests and informs patients of diagnostic test results.
    • Provides patient with the education as indicated.
    • Creates and sends test result letters to patient's PMD/Referring physician.
    • Assists surgeon or nurse practitioner in treatment modalities as indicated.
    • Monitors and responds to inquiries for prescription renewal in coordination with surgeon and nurse practitioner.
    • Provides direct physical assessment within scope of nursing and initiates appropriate action based on scope of knowledge and capabilities.
    • Maintains exam room equipment and supplies. Maintains aseptic environment.
    • Preform other related duties as required.
    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Other duties as assigned.
