A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit at a 288-bed acute care hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.
This facility provides comprehensive specialty services, including a Heart & Vascular Center, Chest Pain Center with PCI-Resuscitation, Stroke Center, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, serving patients throughout Leon and Gadsden Counties. This role offers the chance to work in a high-acuity critical care environment focused on complex cardiac surgical patients.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, and the ability to manage patient care independently when needed. The nurse performs frequent assessments, interprets patient status changes, and coordinates interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The role also emphasizes patient advocacy, privacy, and adherence to evidence-based critical care practices.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill cardiac surgery patients.
Perform frequent assessments and monitor for changes in patient condition.
Manage and adjust care plans in collaboration with physicians and ICU team.
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders.
Educate patients and families on post-surgical care, medications, and recovery plans.
Advocate for patient safety, privacy, and quality care standards.
Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of acute care ICU or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required.
Current Florida RN license or approved multistate compact RN license required (Florida licensure within 60 days if applicable).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
CCRN certification preferred; required within 2 years of hire.
Schedule:
Full-time
Night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
