Registered Nurse - Cardiac Tele

Location: Wilmington, NC

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 6 months
  • Pay Rate: $50.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 3 12 hours (18:45 07:15)

Job Summary

This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position on a Cardiac Telemetry unit. The unit monitors cardiac patients and manages a wide range of cardiac conditions and procedures. Floating is required as needed, with the potential to float every shift. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and care for cardiac patients on a telemetry unit
  • Perform interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring
  • Manage Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, and Sheath Removal procedures
  • Access ports and administer blood products
  • Provide central line/care management and PICC line management
  • Titrate cardiac drips including Diltiazem and Amiodarone
  • Manage cardiac drips including Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, and Dopamine
  • Perform Sheath Pulls, TR Bands, and Femstop procedures
  • Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR for medication, documentation, and communication
  • Float to other units as needed potential to float every shift
  • Adhere to self-scheduling per unit needs
  • Complete 24-hour unit orientation
  • Fulfill 5 6 weekend shifts per contract period (equates to every other weekend)
  • Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters as part of Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments

  • Unit will accept first-time travelers
  • Local candidates accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:6 7
  • Night shift: 3 12 hours (18:45 07:15); 36 hours only can be offered
  • Floating required as needed; potential to float every shift
  • Weekend requirement: 5 6 weekend shifts (equates to every other weekend)
  • Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
  • Mid-contract consolidation to Centralized Office may occur; staff may be preassigned to units as needed
  • Patient diagnoses include: Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Post Cardiac Cath
  • Scheduling type: Self, per unit needs
  • Scrubs: Not provided Navy required
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required

Important Notes

  • RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
  • RTO maximum: 7 days for AYA Auto Offer
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
  • Nurse Manager interview is required prior to finalizing the offer
  • Unit orientation: 24 hours
